Scams come in different forms. So many people today take to Facebook for information and a lot of people think that is the way to get the word out but the big question is, “Is it and how much of this information
is correct?” One needs to realize that Facebook, putting it nicely, is mainly for entertainment and a lot of gossip, not facts. A recent post appeared on Facebook regarding the sightings of several helicopters in the area. Of course, Facebook lit up with speculations and rumors as to why those helicopters were flying over, that is when the rumors started about a nuclear power plant. There is no nuclear power plant coming to Bristow nor has there ever been talk of one.
It also had a link www.bristownewsdaily. com or tips@ bristownewsdaily. com. This is a fake website, definitely not associated with the Bristow News in any way. It also stated that the mayor had held a press conference on the matter of the nuclear plant. According to Mayor Wyatt, this was one hundred percent not true.
After some investigation into the matter, several news papers have been hit with false information on social media. The mayor of Tishomingo, wrote her own front page story asking residents to not rely so heavily on social media. It has become nothing but fake news and scams. So think about it before you make that next comment on Facebook, is this something that is true or are you just feeding the fire by commenting.
