Traffic on Turnpike rerouted due to accident

An injury collision involving three vehicles occurred on July 18, on the Turner Turnpike, three miles south of Stroud.

Vehicles involved were a Dodge Journey, driven by 31 year old Shelby Ward, of Prue, carrying two juvenile passengers ages one and seven, also from Prue; a 2020 Toyota Camry, driven by Devin Wilcox, age 49 of Sand Springs, and a 2019 Chevy Silverado, driven by 38 year old Ryan Woodard, carrying one passenger, Martin Carter, age 41, of Broken Arrow.

All three vehicles were traveling east bound on the turnpike when the Dodge Journey struck the rear of the Toyota causing it to collide with the Chevy pickup. The Toyota then departed the roadway striking a guardrail. Ward along with the seven year old passenger was transported by Creek County EMS to St. Francis in Tulsa, admitted in fair condition. The one year old passenger of Ward's was not injured. Wilcox, who was driving the Toyota and pinned in the vehicle had to be extracted and was transported by Survival Flight to St. Francis, admitted in critical condition. The driver of the Chevy, along with his passenger, was not injured.

Seatbelts were in use in all vehicles, along with child restraints. Ward allegedly admitted that she had become distracted and looked down, causing her to strike the Toyota.Tolls were suspended at Bristow.
