Small town roots, Paris runway dreams

From a small-town community to the fashion stages of Hair Couture Paris, an international runway event celebrating creative and couture hair design. Sister Act Salon has been Halle’s home station for all things hair, where she has honed her skills and built her reputation before stepping onto the international stage.

Halle’s journey to Paris began with her talent and dedication. On the airplane to France, she sketched the idea that would become her signature look—an artistic design she later called the “Fox Tail.” What began as a simple sketch mid-flight soon turned into a defining moment in her career.

The model assigned to Halle had very short hair and had nearly been removed from the lineup because many designs required longer length. Rather than seeing it as a limitation, Halle welcomed the challenge. Using extensions and careful technique, she adapted the Fox Tail design to the short-haired model, creating a striking runway look that drew attention both backstage and on stage.

Beyond creating her own design, Halle was trusted with final runway checks, a responsibility given to only a few stylists. She ensured that each model stepped onto the runway looking their best, gaining a close view of the collabora- ists. The experience was made even more meaningful by the presence of her mother, Kathleen Chapman, who traveled with her. From packing for the trip to helping prepare the short-haired model backstage, Chapman watched her daughter gain confidence and make her mark in the industry. Her support allowed Halle to focus on her creativity while ensuring everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

Halle’s path to Paris grew out of years of work closer to home. For the past four years, she and her mother have served on the Central Tech Advisory Board for Cosmetology.Through those connections, Halle’s dedication and talent were noticed by industry professional Sarah Dean, who helped open the door to this opportunity. Six weeks of preparation followed before the international event.

Along the way, there were memorable moments beyond the runway—traveling through France by train, enjoying authentic onion soup in its homeland, and learning from other artists from around the world.

But the greatest takeaway wasn’t just the travel or the stage. It was the confidence gained, the connections formed, and the deeper techniques learned alongside other professionals.

For a stylist whose roots are in small-town Bristow, the experience proved something powerful: sometimes big dreams begin with a sketch on an airplane and the courage to say yes to a challenge
