In a heartwarming community collaboration, the Run Stop convenience store in Bristow, Oklahoma, is receiving a vibrant new upgrade with the help of talented young artists from Collins Elementary School.
The creative idea came from Lacy, a dedicated employee at Run Stop. Following roof and water damage from a previous storm, the store needed to replace several damaged tiles. Lacy proposed inviting art students from Collins Elementary to decorate the new tiles, turning a necessary repair into an opportunity for community involvement and youthful expression.
Approximately 30 students in grades 3 through 5 participated in the project under the guidance of their art teacher. The group worked on six tiles in total, with each one divided into sectioned-off squares allowing multiple students to contribute their personal touch. The hope is to expand the initiative with more tiles in the future.
The excitement was palpable as the students lined up for a group photo, proudly presenting their finished artwork to Run Stop representatives. For these young artists, seeing their creations become a permanent part of a local business is a thrilling milestone—one that instills a sense of pride in contributing to their community.
This project elevates Run Stop beyond a typical convenience store, infusing it with local history and creativity. Students, parents, teachers, and regular patrons will now experience a space enriched by the imagination of Bristow's next generation, making every visit a reminder of community spirit and resilience.
