February Bristow OHCE Meeting Includes Old and New Business and Leader Lesson on History of OSU and Cooperative Extension Bristow OHCE President Iathy Thompson, called the meeting to order at 10:05,in the Trinity Baptist Youth Building in Bristow,OK. Ray Kinslow, Devotional Ch. read 'Watch Your Words'. With our V.P. Norman Carman being absent, President Kathy led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and the State OHCE Creed. After Dr. Joyce Wade Kinslow read minutes, everyone answered roll call by saying if their favorite color was blacked orange - with 5 persons choosing back and 3 liking orange. Ray Kinslow, Treasurer, stated Bristow OHCE has a balance of $1,139.45.Two of 'Jane's Households Hints' were cleaning a cat's ears with Wesson Oil and people drinking Gatorade to alleviate muscle pain.
President Kathy announced Bristow OHCE members will work two hour shifts, with Fair Board supervisor at the Creek County Livestock Show on March 1,2024. Persons may also help in setting up and taking down the livestock show.
Kathy reported on the Creek County Budget Meeting and the Executive Council meetings,of which she and the Kinslows attended. Shared information was club baskets for Teen Salvation Army donations and Creek County OHCE may attend the state OHCE annual meeting July 7-9, 2024. President Kathy added our club will receive monies from the county for our Social Services project, resulting in us serving more persons. Our project, with another club, will be considered a county and local project.
Kathy announced the Northeast District meeting will be in Glenpool March 26,2024, with the theme being 'Many Nations-One Oklahoma'. Workshop choices are 'WoodyGuthrie History, Native Cooking and Gardening, Frankoma Pottery, et.al. Registration must be in by February 29, 2024.
New Business was a discussion of the Creek County fair OHCE display. Bristow agreed the theme will be 'Into the Woods'. Kathy noted page 31 of the annual yearbook lists things we can make/do, but need to make items related to the theme.This also includes background.
The Leader Lesson,The History of OSU and Cooperative Extension was presented by Kathy Thompson, with special emphasis on its beginning, the 'roots' of OSU.
