FFA Chapter officers gather for leadership training to ‘Take Aim’ at Success”

Officers of the Depew FFA chapter participated in the 2025 Oklahoma FFA (chapter).

Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference at the Glenpool Conference Center in Glenpool. The eight state FFA officers planned and conducted this year’s conference, which was centered around the theme “On Target: Take Aim.” The training focused on anticipatory leadership, encouraging officers to prepare, plan ahead, and act with intention in their leadership roles. Elected officers from each of the 92 high school FFA chapters in the Northeast area attended the conference.

Kelly Barnes, from Edmond, Oklahoma, served as the keynote speaker for the conference.

Barnes, a former state FFA president, is an accomplished leadership coach and professional speaker. He recently became Executive Director of Tulakogee, a youth camp in Wagoner, Oklahoma, operated by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association.“It’s truly an honor to play a role in officer development through COLT Conference,” said Cooper Kline, State FFA President. “Our theme this year is On Target: Take Aim. This facilitation will play a major role in equipping officers with the crucial skills needed to overcome adversity during their year of service.

Through interactive workshops, officers will focus on the importance of contingency planning and finding success at chapter-level events. True leaders must be able to adapt and overcome any challenges they face along the way, and this conference will provide the tools to ensure chapters can succeed in doing so.”
