Summer Reading Program Begins

The Summer Reading Program kicked off Tuesday, May 21, at the Bristow Public Library, inviting all to join and prepare for an adventure. The program kicked off at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the Bristow Fire Department at the Bristow Housing Authority, located along South Chestnut Street, where attendees learned about fire safety. On Wednesday, the U.S. Corps of Engineers taught attendees at the library about water safety during story time. VBS Arrives with Summer With schools out for summer, many churches will be announcing and hosting their Vacation Bible School programs soon and throughout the summer. Check church social media pages, look for signs around the community, or call churches directly for more information.

Local Market Reconvenes

Although its season had only begun May 4, Bristow Artisans and Gardeners Market did not convene Saturday, May 11, during the Tabouleh Fest and 36th Annual Wildflower Run. The market reconvened last Saturday, May 18, in the east end of the Tractor Supply parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon and will open each week through September.

Ravel to Route 66

Last Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m., the Signature Quartet of TCC’s Signature Symphony performed between the town square and plaza. The group’s “Ravel to Route 66” performance included a variety of musical pieces.

Veterans’ Organizations to Host Memorial Day Ceremony

As ceremonies are being held across the nation in memory and honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, Bristow American Legion Post 126 and VFW Post 3656 will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Bristow City Cemetery. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will be held beneath the awning west of the flagpole. Bristow High School alum and U.S. Army Colonel (Ret.) Carl Chasteen will serve as guest speaker.

Chamber Breakfast Coming May 31

The Bristow Chamber of Commerce will host its May Legislative Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Chamber Office at 124 West 4th Avenue.
