Locals Travel for Total Solar Eclipse

Monday offered a total solar eclipse with the southeastern corner of the state lying in the path of totality. As a result, many Bristowans traveled to southeastern Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri to take in the event.

Even those remaining in Bristow witnessed a significant solar eclipse, barring totality. All seemed entranced by the event. The next total solar eclipse, occurring coast to coast, will occur on August 12, 2045. Bristow is forecast to be in the path of totality for that eclipse.

Walkability Surveyed

Mayor Kris Wyatt recently asked community members to walk from Bristow High School south on Ash Street to the football field and complete surveys to share their experiences regarding the route’s—and town’s—walkability.

At time of writing, the scheduled walk was set for Tuesday, April 9, at 12:50 p.m. Mayor Wyatt also invited interested parties to pick up a walkability audit or survey to complete on their own should they opt to walk the route at a different time. The purpose of the walk and audit was to aid efforts in securing a competitive grant. The grant, if received, will be used to fund a sidewalk along Ash Street.

The City of Bristow partnered with OSU Community Wellness and TSET Healthy Living programs.
