On March 25, 2024, the Creek County District Attorney’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate allegations of assault committed by 39-year-old Joseph Christopher Beers, who is a former police officer with the Oilton Police Department.
It was determined that Beers approached a residence while on duty, outside of his jurisdiction, and physically assaulted a 76-year-old man.
On May 10, 2024, the Rogers County District Attorney’s Office also requested the OSBI to investigate Beers on allegations of sexual battery when he was an officer with the Inola Police Department. OSBI special agents learned that in August of 2019, while on duty, Beers sexually assaulted a female victim after responding to an incident.
Based on the information and evidence gathered, two separate arrest warrants were issued for Beers. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Trespassing After Being Forbidden, and Kidnapping through the Creek County District Court. Beers also faces charges of Rape by Instrumentation and Sexual Assault through the Rogers County District Court.
On May 16, 2025, Beers turned himself in to the Creek County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Creek County Jail. He was then transported to the Rogers County Jail. This is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding this case is asked to contact the OSBI at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1800-522-8017. The OSBI appreciates the Creek County Sheriff ’s Office, Creek County District Attorney’s Office, and the Rogers County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance with this investigation.
