Discover the Boomer Broads: October 11th at the Freeland Center

The Boomer Broads are a vibrant trio of female comedians delivering smart, sassy, and family-friendly humor that celebrates the absurdities of everyday life. Known for their clean comedy style, reminiscent of Dry Bar Comedy’s profanity-free YouTube specials, the Broads connect with audiences—especially baby boomers and beyond—through witty, relatable stories about family, relationships, and aging with attitude. In their second year, the core group of three women, often joined by guest performers, proves that “Funny Never Gets Old,” as founder Leslie Norris Townsend envisioned when she formed this touring troupe.

Leslie Norris Townsend brings over 20 years of stage experience to the Boomer Broads. Her routines hilariously explore married life, parenting, and life’s unexpected twists, delivered with

courtesy photo expressive flair from her acting background. After pausing her touring career to raise her children, Leslie hosted a local NBC late-night show and performed locally. Initially hesitant to bring comedy to churches, she discovered they embraced her clean, uplifting humor, inspiring her return to the stage and the creation of the Boomer Broads.

Michelle Krajecki, a Chicago native and self-proclaimed theater nerd, grew up in a family that loved to laugh. After a career in special education and raising her own family, she embraced stand-up, guided by her faith and commitment to clean comedy. A finalist in The Clean Comedy Challenge, Michelle’s sets dive into long-term marriage, family dynamics, and quirky observations, like brainstorming TV show ideas or navigating regional accents, with sharp, relatable wit.

Jann Karam, a multifaceted comedian, actor, writer, and artist, has graced stages like The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. Known for her role as one of Jerry’s girlfriends on Seinfeld, Jann has also performed on Dry Bar Comedy and Comics Unleashed, and opened for legends like Jay Leno and Dana Carvey. Her clever, bold humor draws from personal anecdotes, creating timeless connections with audiences.
