We couldn’t be prouder of our Bristow FCCLA students, who continue to excel in competition while demonstrating leadership, creativity, and service. Last week’s STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) District competition in Stroud highlighted their dedication to hands-on learning through the Family and Consumer Sciences program. Every student who competed earned recognition, showing their growing skills and commitment.
Laylee Capps and Journey Busch claimed 1st place in Repurpose and Redesign, showcasing innovation and sustainability in action. Stella Vandecar earned 1st in Creed Speaking and Interpretation, reflecting her strong leadership and confidence. Paislee Gower placed 1st in Cake Decorating, turning talent and precision into edible art. Aliayah Johnson’s 1st place in Children’s Literature highlighted her gift for storytelling and connecting with young readers. Katy King and Brylee Craig earned 2nd in Professional Presentation, sharpening communication skills that will serve them for life.
The excitement continues as seven students advance in Round 3 of the Cook Around the World competition: Raymond Roy, Estrella Killin, D’Marri McGee, Cayson Wahl, Cayden Boyer-Winn, Cameron Morgan, and Ayana Bruner.Through this challenge, they’re expanding their cultural knowledge, building teamwork, and growing their culinary abilities.
As the holidays approach, FCCLA students are eager to give back to the Bristow community. They’ll host hot cocoa booths at the November 20 Tree Lighting and the December 5 Bristow Christmas Parade— spreading warmth, cheer, and service. The chapter is also offering custom Christmas shirts featuring Pirate Pete, allowing students to apply their design skills while supporting FCCLA initiatives.
