Bristow Veteran Bruce Hurst Selected for Oklahoma Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

A Bristow veteran will soon be honored for his military service with a trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight program.

Bristow resident Bruce Hurst, a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, has been selected to participate in the upcoming Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight mission on April 14, 2026, traveling to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to those who served in our nation’s armed forces.

Hurst served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967, holding the rank of E-4 while assigned to a Forward Support Group, helping provide the critical logistical and operational support needed for military operations during the Vietnam War era.

Hurst is one of 69 Oklahoma Veterans from communities cross the state selected for this Honor Flight mission. The program provides veterans the opportunity to visit the memorials built in recognition of their service and sacrifice.

Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring Oklahoma veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C. at no cost to the veteran. Each flight costs approximately $130,000 and is funded entirely through donations and community support.

Community members are invited to attend the public events surrounding the April mission, including the Send-Off Ceremony on April 13 at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Tulsa and the Welcome Home Celebration at Tulsa International Airport on April 14.
