On December 31, 2025, Bristow said a heartfelt goodbye as Police Chief Kendra Raney signed off for the final time, closing nearly 30 years of faithful service to the community she has always called home.
A Bristow native and 1992 graduate of Bristow Public Schools, Raney began her career with the Bristow Police Department in 1996 as a dispatcher. Just three years later, she made local history as the department’s first female patrol officer. Her steady dedication and hard work carried her through the ranks—officer, sergeant, assistant chief—and in 2021, she once again made history by becoming Bristow’s first female police chief.
Throughout her career, Raney became known not just for leadership, but for heart. She built strong relationships, showed compassion to those in need, and served with genuine care for the people of Bristow. Mayor Kris Wyatt praised her for setting “a standard of caring,” noting her love for both the community and the profession. Interim Chief Kevin Webster shared that Raney prepared her team well and leaves behind a strong foundation.
When reflecting on her years of service, Raney said the moments that meant the most were seeing people overcome difficult seasons and come out stronger. She hopes she will be remembered for her compassion.
The City of Bristow began accepting applications for a permanent police chief in early December 2025, as the community looks ahead while honoring the legacy left behind.
Chief Kendra Raney’s retirement marks the end of an important chapter, but her impact, and the love Bristow holds for her, will remain for years to come.
