Daniel Woods, a senior at Bristow High School, has exemplified academic excellence and leadership throughout his educational journey. Having attended Bristow Public Schools for 13 years,Woods has been a dedicated member of the Bristow Pirate Pride band for the past four years. In a remarkable achievement, Woods will graduate from Bristow High School not only with his high school diploma but also with an Associate degree in Science Biology from Tulsa Community College (TCC) with distinction. This significant accomplishment is a testament to his hard work and the opportunities provided by dual credit programs.

Woods plans to continue his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he aims to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. When asked about his choice of pharmacy as a career, Woods shared,“When I first took chemistry, I really enjoyed it.

When I learned pharmacy shares many of the same concepts of chemistry, I wanted to pursue it as a career.”

Heather Butler, a Bristow High School Counselor states,“dual enrollment programs offer numerous benefits that extend beyond just academic advancement. They provide significant financial savings, academic preparation, career readiness, and personal growth opportunities. For students like Daniel Woods, dual enrollment has paved the way for remarkable achievements and a clear pathway to future success in higher education and beyond.

According to the TCC website, high school students make up 23% of their overall enrollment, totaling 3,300 students. These students benefit from the ability to transfer TCC credits to public colleges and universities across Oklahoma, thanks to transfer agreements with many private and regional institutions. Enrollment for the summer and fall semesters is currently open.

For more information on how to take advantage of these opportunities, students and parents should visit www.tulsacc.edu/dualcredit and contact their high school’s college and career advisor. According to Mrs. Butler, the high school tuition waivers through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education provide for up to 18 eligible credit hours for all Oklahoma seniors, and TCC also offers up to 12 eligible credit hours for all Oklahoma juniors.

Congratulations to Daniel Woods on his outstanding achievements and best wishes for his future endeavors in the field of pharmacy.
