The City of Bristow has officially appointed Kevin Webster as Chief of Police following action taken by the Bristow City Council during a recent executive session.
Webster, who previously served as Assistant Chief and most recently as Interim Chief, was formally offered the position after the council met in executive session to discuss personnel matters related to the leadership of the Bristow Police Department. Executive sessions are permitted under Oklahoma’s Open Meeting Act to allow governing bodies to discuss specific personnel decisions privately before returning to open session for official action.
Following deliberation, the council reconvened in open session and voted to extend the offer of Chief of Police to Webster. The motion was approved, solidifying his transition from interim leadership into the permanent role.
Webster has served the Bristow Police Department for several years, holding positions that include detective and Assistant Chief prior to stepping into the interim chief role. His appointment provides continuity in leadership for the department and formalizes responsibilities that include oversight of daily operations, department administration, officer supervision, budgeting, policy implementation, and coordination with city administration.
As Chief of Police, Webster reports directly to the City Manager and works alongside city leadership to ensure public safety services align with municipal policies and community needs. His appointment fills the vacancy created by the prior chief ’s retirement and establishes permanent leadership for the department moving forward.
Webster says he is very excited about the position and looks forward to serving the department and community.
