Bill Price's 'BP Cartel Policy”, a homebred son of 'Favorite Cartel' posted a strong gate work in preparation for this heat and the homework paid off. He left the gate in good form and sprinted to take the lead in route to a three quarter length victory in the 400 yard dash Saturday in the Los Alamitos Winter Derby.
With Armando Cervantes riding for trainer Monty Arrossa, BP Cartel Policy covered the distance to record his second win in eight career starts. His victory also came in a trial at Remington Park when he qualified to the Heritage Place Futurity on May 15.
The Oklahoma bred gelding is out of CC Policy, an Oklahoma homebred Corona Cartel mare, a grade stakes winner who earned over $85,000 in her 17 race career. She won the first three starts of her career, all at Remington Park.
BP Cartel Policy raced in two states, including Oklahoma, has won three of nine races and the $73,164 winner's share of the purse from his first stakes victory increased his winnings to $ 169,016.
