The Sam Varner Memorial Firework Show will be held Saturday, July 5 at the city park. Bring a lawn chair or your blanket and enjoy the fireworks glistening over Lake Massena. The firework show will begin at dusk but the park will be overflowing with things to do. The Pirate Plunge Pool will be open from 1-6 p.m. for regular hours then reopen at 7 and close at 9:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per session.
Also on July 5th, the Slick Fire Department will be holding a block party at the fire station. Games include horseshoes and corn hole. The fireworks will be geared more towards the youth, although a few larger ones will light the skies.
A couple of options for July 4 is Jenk's Boomfest from 9 – 10:30 p.m. on the Riverfront and Pedestrian Bridge on Riverfront and Aquarium Drive or The Folds of Honor Freedom Fest from 6 – 10:15 p.m. at Riverwest Festival Park located at 751 W. 21st in Tulsa.
Are you the stay at home type with a barbeque in the back yard with friends and family, shooting off fireworks in the street? You can do this but you must obtain a permit for the fireworks and absolutely know bottle rockets or sky rockets are allowed in the city limits.
No matter what your plans are, the number one thing is safety first. Enjoy your holiday.
