The Tee Pee Drive-In first opened in the 1950's with room for 400 cars. Over its 72 year life span it has seen many owners; then the drive-in shut its gates for the final time in 1999.
In 2021, the drive-in was purchased by the Kante Group. They purchased it with grand plans for the iconic big screen. The drive in was overgrown with trees, branches, bushes, grass and weeds. It was very dirty and desolate looking. It hadn't shown a movie on its screen in over 20 years. The new owners have had renovations underway since last year, and the drive in has taken on quite the transformation. It boasts a bright new neon sign, has all new decking and a new projector. Area residents recall all the memories of the TeePee and the fun they had there while growing up. That's why this project was so important. It is important that residents have something fun to do locally. The plans for that fun consist of more than just movies. A new playground for children has been added, concerts are being planned, and the concession will carry alcohol options and even with 1950's Spartan trailers that are ready for rental. They have already been getting calls from out of state from people planning 'Route 66 trips' and want to make the TeePee one of their stops in their travels.
The TeePee will be open 7 days a week and have double features each night. Tickets for adults will be eight dollars, and children ages four through 12 willbefourdollars, and under four will be free. The Grand Opening will be held on April 15.
