Where’s Your Name Written?

It was his first real job. It was payday. Exciting! But, no paycheck. He had bills to pay, things to do. No money. He went to HR, where there was a copy of his cashed check. “It looks like your signature to me,” the HR person said.

“No, that’s not my signature! There’s a thief, but it’s not me!” he protested. The HR books were checked. His true name and signature were found. His name, written in the book, proved him innocent.

Jesus spoke of a heavenly book. The names in it prove who is innocent. Jesus welcomed back His disciples. He’d sent them out to preach and heal. When the men…returned, they were very happy. They said, “Lord, when we used your name, even the demons obeyed us!”

Jesus said to them, “I was watching Satan fall, as lightning strikes from the sky…I have given you…even more power than the enemy has… but don’t be happy for that reason. Instead, be happy because your names are written in heaven!” (Luke 10:1-20). Read about this in your own Bible.

Is your name written in heaven? John wrote to Christians. Here’s his revelation: “So, remember what you have received and heard. Then obey it. Change your heart! If you don’t wake up, then I will come like a robber. You will never know precisely when I will come upon you.

“However, you have a few individuals…who have not polluted their clothes. They will walk with Me dressed in white; they are worthy people. In the same way, the person who conquers will wear white clothes. His name will never be erased from the Book of Life. I will speak for him in front of My Father and in front of His angels” (Revalation 3:3-5). This sounds good!

Paul mentions a few of his fellow workers, saying, “Their names are in the Book of Life” (Philippians 4: 3).

John presents this heavenly scene: “I saw a great white throne and the One who was sitting on it. The earth and the sky ran away from His face, but they could not find any place to hide. I saw dead people — important and unimportant. They were standing in front of the throne. Books were opened. And, another book — the Book of Life — was opened. The dead people were judged from the things which had been written in the books, according to the way they had lived” (Revelation 20:10-12). Please read about this day in your own Bible.
