Witches, horoscopes, communication with the dead. Are these from God? They may seem OK because our culture promotes these beliefs!
Two podcasters stated, “It’s a compliment to be called a witch! Not the bad witch,but Mom witch. What a great compliment!” God says, “You shall not allow a sorceress to live” (Exodus 22:18).
“For rebellion is as the sin of divination (witchcraft), and (disobeying God) is as reprehensible as false religion and idolatry…you have rejected the word of the Lord… ” (1 Samuel 15:23). Thinking, “It’s OK, I know better than God,” will destroy you. Disobedience and disrespecting God lead to foolish choices. King Saul went to the “witch of Endor” for a message from the dead prophet, Samuel. (1 Samuel 28:3-23 - Please read this in your own Bible). God gave Saul an unwanted message (vs. 19).
God’s Word includes some exciting stories that are lessons for us (1 Corinthians 10:11-12; also see Leviticus 19:31; 20:6, 27).
God is very serious and specific about His will for you. Why dabble in the occult and trust in vague messages (such as Horoscopes) rather than listen to God? Trust only in God’s Word!
In Acts 8, we read about Simon, a sorcerer. He “amazed” the people of Samaria and enjoyed his celebrity status. This made trouble for him when Peter and John arrived.
In Acts 19, we read about the church, where “many of those who practiced magic… began burning (their books) in the sight of everyone; and…the prices of the books…(were) fifty thousand pieces of silver” (Acts 19:19).
What will you destroy to honor Jesus? What’s in your magazine or book library, or saved in your favorites folder on a computer? Follow Jesus and destroy the porn! And please don’t give it to someone else. Nobody needs it!
Scripture tells us that contradicting God’s teachings is listening to Satan! He’s real, and he hates God! He lays traps for you! He mocks Jesus! Many use Jesus’name instead of foul four- letter words! What does this mean for you?
From the Garden of Eden to the final words in Revelation, the devil is working to destroy God’s plan! (Please read in your own Bible John 8:44 and 1 Peter 5:8). Satan will destroy all who don’t know or follow God’s teachings.
Quoting Old Testament prophets, Jesus said, “You hypocrites…‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me…in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines commandments of men’” (Matthew 15:7-9).
