The first schools were established in the thirteen original American colonies during the 1600s. The textbook was the Bible until 1963!
The Bible has been attacked because people see false “Christians.” Some think it is divisive and radical because they don’t witness the truth. They try to destroy its influence on society.
William Tyndale was executed at the instigation of King Henry VIII. Tyndale translated the Bible into the common language. That made the ruling class uncomfortable. It still makes elitists uncomfortable! As they read, the people saw the hypocrisy of the ruling class.
What is so offensive about the Bible?
Atheists believe that teaching the Bible in schools is “exclusionary and divisive. It leads to bullying by the Christian students.” What? Think about these words of Jesus: “You have heard that it was said,‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is heaven…For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?” (Matthew:43-46). Religious leaders distorted God’s Word before Jesus’ day!
“And He said…‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew22:35, 37, 39-40).
The hypocrisy of the atheist’s argument against teaching the Bible in schools is that their “religion” may already be taught there. Atheist teachings devalue people and make God out to be a sinister, hateful, and vengeful person. Does the atheist help or hurt?
Teaching prayer, Jesus said, “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12). Jesus teaches His followers to love and forgive! The atheist doesn’t!
Many people are Christian in name only. They don’t live what Jesus commands His disciples.
Do current teachings in schools promote unity among students?
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”( John 13:34-35). Jesus promotes unity through Godly love!
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” ( John17:3).
Seek to know God while you still have time! It is the single most important thing you will ever do in this life.
