Virginia Lee Johns, 1928 - 2018

Virginia Lee Johns was born February 6, 1928, to Samuel and Effie (Primrose) Mathews in Borger,Texas. She departed this life Aug.10, 2018, at the age of 90 years, six months and four days.

Virginia was a member of the Davenport High School graduating class of 1946. Just shy of two years later, on March 6, 1948, Virginia Mathews and Bill E. Johns were united in marriage. A life of love, laughter and adventure there ensued as they made their home here in Bristow. They enjoyed 33 years together before his passing April 30, 1981. Virginia and Bill were blessed with four children. She worked tirelessly providing for her family around the home whether it be gardening, cooking, chasing kids or simply making sure they got to where they needed to be at the appropriate time. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved each one in such a way that only she could. Though devoted to her family, Virginia found time for herself serving the community in organizations such as the Eastern Star. She loved the Lord and served him faithfully as a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. She often relaxed with a game of golf, worked toward that next strike while bowling and visited over a game of Bridge.

She is survived by one son, Judd Johns and wife, Becky, of Bristow; one daughter Sandi Davis, of Ketchum; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill E. Johns; two sons, Roger Johns and Billy E. Johns Jr.; and three siblings.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at the Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating.
