Tyrone James Elias, 1938 - 2018
Tyrone James Elias, who operated Jamil’s Restaurant for some 40 years passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, after a short illness, he was 80.
Elias was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Bristow, and grew up with two brothers and a sister. The children who were old enough, worked in their father Jamil’s restaurant in Bristow.
Following in his father’s footsteps, James opened Jamil’s in Oklahoma City in 1966 and operated it until 1972 when he sold it to a cousin and moved to Texas to open another Jamil’s in Houston, near the Astrodome. He sold that restaurant and returned to Tulsa when his father died in 1977. During that time, his brother, Michael, had a Jamil’s in Dallas as well.

He was an avid pilot – at one point owning three airplanes – a four seater and a couple of two seaters.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his by his wife Dada Elias, mother Genevieve Francis Hart and father Jamil Saab Elias.
Survivors include brothers Bernard Elias and Michael Elias and his wife Delores; sister Karen Graham and husband Jay; children Jennifer Alcott and husband John, Debbie Elias, Dana Hlobik and husband Matt, Kevin Elias,Tyrone Junior “T. J.” Elias, Michael Elias and Jayme Watkins and husband Bruce and numerous grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
