Patricia Jo VanVickle

September 1,1937 – September 23, 2025

Patricia Jo VanVickle, age 88, of Bristow, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, in her home.

Pat was born on Sept. 1, 1937, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Charles and Teresa Grogan. Known to most as Pat, she was lovingly called ‘Mema’ by her grandchildren and those closest to her. She grew up in Ambia, Indiana, with her nine brothers and sisters. Pat raised five children in Indiana and California before setting her roots in Bristow, in 1969.

Pat worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Krug for 29 years before running the Bristow Memorial Clinic. She also served her community as city council person for Ward 2 on the Bristow City Council for approximately a decade.

She devoted her life to caring for her family and was the heart of the home. Pat enjoyed baking, sewing, and sharing meals with loved ones. Her mornings were never complete without a hot cup of coffee and her beloved crossword. She was also a spirited supporter of the Bristow Purple Pirates, known for her enthusiastic cheers and lively commentary from the bleachers.

Pat’s greatest joy came from her family, especially cheering on her grandchildren at their sports games. Whether she was sitting in the bleachers or following along from home, she never missed a chance to support them. A lifelong sports fan, she could often be found watching her favorite teams, particularly the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Chicago Cubs, always with enthusiasm. Her love for the game and for her family’s accomplishments was contagious, and she shared that joy with everyone around her.

Among her many blessings was the enduring friendship of Dixie Calvin, her companion through life’s joys and sorrows, and her partner in cheering faithfully for Bristow football.

Pat is survived by her children, Kathy Bone, of Williamsport, Indiana, Cindy Alcorn, of Bristow, Julie LaBrecque, of Bristow, Bart VanVickle, of Collinsville, and Lisa James, of Bristow. She is also survived by her siblings: LeAnn Putney and husband, Tom, of Nevada, Sue Clough, of Wyoming, Judy Roark, of Indiana, Jay Grogan, of Arizona, Terry Grogan and wife Margaret, of Indiana, and Edward Grogan, of Indiana.

She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Jason Bone, Chris Alcorn, Sarah White, Lindsey Jones, Brittany Bennett, Sheriden LaBrecque, Jessica Clemmons, Jared VanVickle, Candice Garza, Caleb Cline, and Calen Kinnaman, and 20 great-grandchildren, Caitlin Bone, James Bone, Opal Bone, Cody Alcorn, Zachary Alcorn, Gage Alcorn, Logan White, Ava White, Emma Nail, Tyler Lawrence, Jo Jones, Payton Cooksey, Presley Cooksey, Mila Clemmons, Tegan Pruitt, Claira Cline, Cassidee Cline, Colter Cline, Kendall Kinnaman, and Carter Kinnaman.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Teresa Grogan, her brother, Darrell Grogan, and her sister, Charla Molck.

Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the community she loved, and the countless lives she touched through her friendship and encouragement.

A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Bristow City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
