Margie Lee, 1933 - 2020

Graveside funeral rites for Depew resident, Margie Lee, were held 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2020, in the Bristow City Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Fouts of the Yukon Discovery Church officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home, of Bristow.

Margie D. Lee passed from this life in Bristow on May 4, 2020, at the age of 86 years, nine months and 17 days. She was born at Pine Hill near Bristow, on July 17, 1933, to the late Frank McCarty and Laura (Blythe) McCarty. Margie attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Bristow High School. She met Jack Lee while he was home on leave from the army and they were united in marriage on March 9, 1959, in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Oklahoma City for several years and later moved to Depew where they remained. Margie had worked as a seamstress, a waitress, and a medical office assistant for 25 years until her retirement. She loved pictures and filled the walls of her home with the pictures of family and friends. She enjoyed canning and also had an extensive collection of dolls. Her most memorable travels were to Alaska when her grandson was born, and Hawaii, when her great grandson was born. Her best memory was bringing her son Tony home from the hospital. Her greatest achievement was being a mother and a friend and she cherished being able to care for her brother, Ronnie “Red Dog” McCarty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Valerie Perry, Frankie McKenzie and Sybil Newcomb and four brothers, Alton, Bob, Ronnie “Red Dog”, and Harry McCarty.

Her remaining family includes her husband, Jack Lee; two sons, Tony Lee and wife Kim, and Mike Lee; grandchildren, Dustin, Danielle, Brandon, Devynne; great grandchildren: Traven, Peyton and Jordan; also special friend Cindy Hightower, Brandon and Shelly Inman, Kerry and-Shelly Hilbert; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
