Louis Gene Messer, 1948 - 2020
Louis Gene Messer was born Oct. 24, 1948, to Andrew Jackson and Rebecca Elizabeth Louvisa Messer in Bristow,. He departed this life June 17, 2020, at the age of 71 years.
He graduated from Bristow High School in 1966. He served country in the United States Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War.
On Dec. 22, 1967, Louis Messer and Barbara Cheatwood were united in marriage. From this union were born two children, Tammy and Tony.
He retired from Fibercast Sand Springs after 31 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sand Springs. He enjoyed music which included everything from singing, playing the guitar and karaoke. However, his biggest passion was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Messer; one daughter, Tammy Shelton and husband Tommy; one son, Tony Messer and wife Shanna; one sister, Shirley Lee; eight grandchildren, Quentin Messer, Courtney Messer, Grant Shelton, Sophia Shelton, Hudson Shelton, Wyatt Messer, Matthew Shelton and Dawson Shelton as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Messer and Roy Messer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church. Interment followed at the Bristow City Cemetery.
