Jerry Lee Newman
Jerry Lee Newman, 76, of Bristow, went to be with the Lord, Aug. 2, 2019, at Saint Francis Heart Hospital after a short illness. He was surrounded by friends and family.
Jerry was born May 26, 1943, in Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana, The eldest of six children to Charles Robert and Mary Louise Newman.
Jerry faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps, serving two tours in Vietnam, where he received a purple heart, sharpshooter award, Vietnam cross of gallantry and a host of other awards. He retired from the US Army after switching Military services.
Jerry met and later married the love of his life Doloris. They recently celebrated eight years of marriage.
Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, any and all living creatures; he always had a soft heart for animals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deloris Newman, their two children, David Lee Newman and Jenny Louise Newman of the home; daughter, Alicia Dawn Newman, of Bethany, Missouri; his three children, Robin Leigh Newman of Canton, Georgia, Terine Ann Newman, of Branson, Missouri, Ronald Newman deceased, stepchildren: Denny Hardin Sr wife, Kathy, of Coweta, Chuck Black, of Tulsa, Shelly Shaw husband, Terry, of Tulsa and Dorman Black wife, Lori, of Collinsville, .; 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren with two on the way; brothers, Joe Lawrance Newman; sisters, Jenny Lou Wright and Julia Louise Newman.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Newman, his mother, Mary Winter, his brother, James Newman, his sister, Janet Hunt and his eldest son, Ronald Newman.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Luncheon was held prior to Funeral service at 12 p.m. (Noon) at First Baptist Church, 226 E 6th, Bristow, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at 2 pm.on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at Free Holiness Church, 114 W 1st Ave, Bristow, Oklahoma. Interment followed at Bristow City Cemetery, Bristow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
