Gary Edward Zickefoose, 1944 - 2019
Gary Edward Zickefoose was born June 21, 1944, to Edward Marion and Lela (Lord) Zickefoose in Hominy. He departed this life Feb. 23, 2019, at the age of 74 years, two months and two days.
He was raised in the Keystone area and graduated from Mannford High School in 1962. He held various jobs in life until graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Funeral Science. He retired after 28 years with the Army.
He was a reluctant traveler, traveling with his wife Mad. They traveled to all 50 states and five foreign countries. Among those travels were five cruises. He enjoyed Alaska the most. He enjoyed playing the piano for gospel groups and church. He was an encyclopedia of cars. There wasn’t a detail on a car that he couldn’t tell you. He enjoyed helping his father-in-law feed and care for his cattle.
He was a member of the Crosswords Free Will Baptist Church in Jenks, the Bristow Lions Club, and had the honor of being inducted into the Sand Springs Rotary club by his father who had been a member for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Madelyn Morton Zickefoose, of the Jenks home; two daughters, Lisa Bishop and husband, Mark, of Calera, Oklahoma and Denisa Newton and husband, Bruce, of Bristow; step daughter, Jill Mc-Donald and husband, Steve, of South Pasadena, Florida; one sister, Beverly Bales and one brother, Bruce Zickefoose; grandchildren, Kyle Newton, Melissa Newton, Cody Newton, Kaylee Meeks and husband Johnathan, Katelyn Reese and husband Steven, Hailey Caldwell and husband Jace and Caleb Bishop; four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother and sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at the Hutchins Maples Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating. Interment followed at the Bristow City Cemetery.
