Funeral services for Bill Scott, a longtime high school head football coach in Oklahoma with local ties were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Northeastern State University Event Center on the Tahlequah campus.
Scott died Friday night in Stilwell after a long illness. He was 76.
Scott, a Northeastern State graduate and 1965 draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams, was a 1987 inductee into the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame who won three state championships at Bristow and two runner-up finishes over a stint at Bristow from 1973-1993. He assisted his son Brent Scott during the latter’s head coaching tenure at Sequoyah in recent years.
