Richard Dean Brown, age 85, of Bristow, passed from this life on Aug. 5, 2026. He was born June 6, 1941, in Hominy, to Frank John and Lora Epsy Brown.
Richard graduated from Cleveland High School in 1960. In 1963, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he faithfully served his country until 1965. On April 17, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Marsha Metheny, the love of his life. In 1972, they moved to Bristow, where they raised their two children, Micah and Amy, and shared 47 wonderful years of marriage until Marsha’s passing on Sept. 1, 2015.
Richard worked for Southwestern Bell for over 35 years, known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and quiet dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple, peaceful moments, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. These were the places where he felt most at ease.
He is survived by his children: Micah Brown and wife Angie, and Amy Tyler and husband Jason; six grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply and proudly. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Marsha; two brothers, John and Bill Brown; and one sister, Mary Ann Upchurch.
There will be a gathering Saturday, August 22, 2026, at C&J’s Country Fixin’s from 12-4 pm. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
