Helen Louise Slawson, 1925 - 2018
Funeral services for former Bristow resident, Helen Slawson, were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home, Bristow. Rev. Tim Busch of the Bristow First Church of God officiated. Interment followed in Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Bristow. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home, Bristow.
Helen was born in Bristow, on Sept. 4, 1925, to the late Cleed Wallace Wyatt and Winnie Davis (Settle) Wyatt. She passed from this life in Catoosa on July 6, 2018, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and two days. Helen was raised and educated in the Okemah area and was a graduate of Okemah High School.
She married Robert Dale Slawson on Dec. 15, 1945, and they made Bristow their home. They remained together until his death in 2008.
Helen had worked for many years as the custodian at the Bristow First Church of God until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, camping, helping her husband with his woodworking projects, and spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime faithful member of the church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Wyatt and a sister-in-law, Helen Willick.
Her remaining family includes her two children, Larry Slawson and wife, Gail, of Tulsa; Sheri Tomiello and husband, Don, of Texas; grandchildren, Sheri Lynn Slawson Romero, Kendra Gail Tomiello, Kelsey Michelle Tomiello; great grandchildren, Allison Romero ad Royal McClain; her twin brother, Harlan Lester Wyatt and his wife, Imogene, of Norman and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
