In 2014 and prior to the arrival of The Polar Express, Bristow built its Depot Plaza, situated between Town Square and the Frisco Depot. However, its completed construction proved incomplete and ADA noncompliant, lacking a wheelchair accessible ramp to the parking area along the east side. Since its construction, numerous people have fallen; consequently, concerned citizens have addressed the missing ramp with various City of Bristow officials, local business owners, and organizations.
After receiving renewed messages of concern, Mayor Pinson reached out to Adney Concrete for the construction of a safe, accessible ramp. Last Thursday morning, May 6th, Adney Concrete owner, Donnie Adney, and employees, Bob Green and Corey Armstrong, created the ramp. They tirelessly worked throughout the day to complete the job in advance of the weekend’s festivities.
Despite some challenges during the construction of the ramp, Adney Concrete completed the job in timely fashion, allowing the concrete to fully dry and set for use by Tabouleh Fest attendees on Saturday. Bristow’s Depot Plaza now boasts its very own wheelchair accessible ramp along the south side, behind the Bristow Fire Department. Given the time constraint, handrails will be added in the near future for added safety and stability.
Even though it took seven years, Bristow’s Depot Plaza is now ADA compliant and safer for residents and visitors alike. Please be sure to thank Mayor Rick Pinson and Adney Concrete for a job well done.
