Christmas Time in the City

It’s that time of year again, but, as we all know, it’s unlike any year in recent memory. With so much of our lives changing in lieu of the recent COVID crises across the world, the people who live in Bristow need something to bring the “Merry” back into our Christmas. That’s why local director Chapman Shields and the great minds at the Freeland Arts Council organized a program named “Christmas at the Freeland,” which offers an extensive lineup of some of the most accomplished Bristow artists! This production will be live-streamed via the Freeland Center’s Facebook page on December 19th, starting at 7:30 p.m. No in-person attendance will be offered in accordance with COVID-19 Guidelines established by the CDC and WHO.

Drive Merry, Bright, and Sober this Holiday Season: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

This holiday season, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is partnering with the Creek County Sheriff ’s Office to share the message about the dangers of drunk driving. From December 18, 2020, through January 1, 2021, law enforcement will participate in the high-visibility national enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. During this period, local law enforcement will show zero tolerance for drunk driving. Increased state and national messages about the dangers of driving impaired, coupled with enforcement and increased officers on the road, aim to drastically reduce drunk driving on our nation’s roadways.

A Winter Wonderland in Bristow

The community of Bristow and the surrounding areas turned into a winter wonderland on Sunday, Dec. 13, when the snow started falling around 7:30 a.m. and continued throughout the day. Bristow saw a total accumulation of a little more than five inches in its first snow of the season with temperatures plummeting into the teens Sunday evening.

Share the Shine, local ten year old with a big heart gives to elderly

Ten year old Marshall McRae is paying it forward with the gift of giving this holiday season by making blankets for the elderly. He has always had a soft spot in his heart for the elderly and became concerned when he saw a picture of an elderly lady on the news sitting in her room at a nursing home crying. He decided to do something special for them because he always sees people doing things for children so he decided to do the reverse and do for the elderly.

Happy Holidays at Oklahoma Tire Recyclers

Shelby Sturdevant, office manager at Oklahoma Tire Recyclers, came up with an idea to do a Christmas Greeting in front of the business that was totally unique to anything they had done before. Sturdevant's idea was make everthing out of, of course, tires. She and seven other employees, Mickey Wren, Lucas Blackburn, Jay Spangler, Skiler Lane, Marian Smith and John Sturdevant, got together and got busy, creating the OTR's Christmas greeting to all. The project was constructed out of 36 different sized tires, then painted. It took three days just to get everything painted.

Kellyville resident loses life in accident

A fatality incident, still under investigation, occurred on I-44 at the West 56th Place South westbound exit ramp, in the Salpulpa City limits. A 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Arturo Munoz- Escogido, age 36, of Tulsa. Sarai Munoz, age 30, also of Tulsa, was a passenger in the pickup. Both Escogido and Munoz were not injured in the accident but Russell Davis, age 63, of Kellyville, who was a pedestrian, lost his life. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the members of the Sapulpa Fire Depatment, from massive injuries.

Merry Christmas bike give-a-way

Kellyville held its Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 5., along with a Christmas pageant and a holiday decorating contest. Tickets for the drawing of the bicycles were handed out during the parade and approximately 200 bicycles were given to area children.
