Area veteran receives much needed service dog

Body
An Army veteran who was stationed in Afghanistan, Rodger Rundenza, was looking for a service dog for his TBI and PTSD but had not been able to find one. Rundenzais is the grandson-in-law of Juanita Stark, who is part of the American Legion Auxiliary. The American Legion and the Auxiliary got together with Bristow Barnyard Animal Rescue’s, Beth Roberts, to find a dog that could be trained as a service animal. They were in luck, Roberts had a Border Collie mix that was about a year old named Sampson. He would be a perfect candidate for a service dog.

Community donates gifts to Rainbow residents

Body
Over the last two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected us all in many ways; however, nursing home and assisted living residents often intensely felt COVIDinduced adversity, facing continued isolation and supply chain disruptions for their medications, necessities, and medical equipment. Many lost friends, family, and roommates to the illness. Thankfully, Bristow is home to many generous, kind, and compassionate people with hearts to serve and love their neighbors. Those people selflessly offered of themselves to gift a vulnerable population most in need of love and connection again this Christmas season.

Sharing love at Christmas

Body
The spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Bristow. One of the community’s fairly new members is spreading good cheer to all the little children and their families. Jewell Carlson lived on a farm in Kansas. There were no children around to see all of her decorations even though she loved putting them out. Two years ago her daughter, Tammy Levin, moved her to Bristow on the corner of 10th by the pre-K building in hopes that she would enjoy seeing all the kids and waving at them each day.
