Back in March of 2024, Bristow News brought you the story of the arrest of a Mannford police officer, James Waltham, age 42. Waltham had been on the force for nine years and was , at the time the resource officer at Mannford Public Schools. Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) charged Waltham with first degree rape and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Watham invited a student to his home and they both had two shots of whiskey.The student said he got sick and ask to lie down but when he awoke Waltham was allegedly assaulting him. The student demanded to be taken home and Waltham did so. A second student came forward a month later stating that he too had been at Waltham house and had also been given alcohol. The second student said there was no sexual contact. Waltham was charged with rape by instrumentation, two counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of indecent exposure and three counts of furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 years of age.
This past week the former police officer was sentenced after pleading guilty to several of the charges. He was charged with rape by instrumentation, two counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of indecent exposure and three counts of furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 years of age. Waltham plead guilty to several of the charges including rape by instrumentation and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Waltham was given a 10 year prison sentence. He will have to serve two full years in prison and the other eight years on probation.
