December 23, 1933 - September 28, 2026
Rayma Lea Fechner was born Dec. 23, 1933 to Elisha and Bertha Higgins in Bristow. She departed this life Sept. 28, 2026 at the age of 92.
Rayma graduated Slick Public Schools with the class of 1952. She and Bob McNew were married in 1954. The family grew with the arrival of their first child, Steve, and later Lorrie then Gary. Early years Rayma worked diligently keeping the home and raising her children. Mom and Grandma were her two greatest titles. As her children grew and the need arose, Rayma worked outside the home. Most notably was her career with Super H Foods; she retired after 20 plus years of service. March 19, 1998 Rayma and Billy E. Fechner were united in marriage. Countless memories were made with love and laughter before his passing in 2019. She was a bornagain believer serving the Lord Faithfully as a member of the Oak Street Church of God. Rayma was the epitome of love as characterized by the verse we all know. She was patient, she was kind and because she could also be a little ornery, she gave grace when needed. Rayma was a taker of pictures, a shopper of knick-knacks and decorator extraordinaire.
Rayma is survived by her children, Steve McNew, Lorrie Roberts and husband Bobby, and Gary McNew and wife Julie; nine grandchildren, Angela Burgett, Percilla Rochelle, Angeletta Couch, Travis Couch, Robby Roberts Bobby Roberts, Danny Roberts, Samantha Geiger and Callie McNew; two sisters, Clara Jeanette Hill and Sue Cole; 23 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Fechner, sister, Joann Watt and daughter in law Melody McNew.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 2, 2026 at Hutchins-Maples Matherly Chapel.
