Time is nearing for the annual Wildflower Run, which every year takes place in May. This year runners from all over will join in the 5K run on Saturday, May 11. Yearly a special person is selected and to whom the run is dedicated. This year the honor goes to Shannon Hilburn, a late coach at Bristow Public Schools. Hilburn passed last year after a courageous battle with cancer.
This year, with the help of Chip Cooper, a fundraiser is being held and the proceeds will go to the Bristow Education Foundation for the Shannon Hilburn Scholarship fund. The fundraiser consists of two teams, Team Bob, who is Bobby Lyons and each entrant from grades one through 11, odd numbered grades and the second is Team Colby, consisting of Colby Wissel and entrants second to 12th grades, even numbered grades. Each entrant buys a wrist band for $1.00. If an entrant with a wristband crosses the finish line at the Wildflower Run, $5.00 is donated to the Shannon Hilburn scholarship. Adults may also purchase a wristband for $5.00. For more information contact Chip Cooper at (918) 688-5732 or Matt Smith Bristow Education Foundation at (918) 645-2995 for donations.
The Wildflower Run workouts will be held each Wednesday from 4:15 to 5 p.m. at Hafer Field beginning March 20th and ending May 8, 2024.
