The man who would be mayor

Bristow Mayor Leonard Washington grew up on his family farm in Gypsy and graduated from Depew High School in 1972.

“I had no idea when I grew up, I would be a city mayor,” said Washington.

He said like most young athletes while in high school, he had dreams of playing sports at the next level, but life changed his path. Washington said he married Donna, and they started a family. He went to work for what was known then as Parkline Arrow, a local manufacturing company and stayed there for 33 years.
