Roy Eugene McCollum, 1930 - 2018

Roy Eugene McCollum was born Nov. 26, 1930, to William Newton and Jessie (Langham) McCollum, in Blackburn. He departed this life Jan. 30, 2018, at the age of 87 years, two months and four days. He attended Bristow Public Schools and then enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He retired after 25 years as a chief petty officer. He also worked in the oilfield on Transworld rig #64 and later as a parts manager for a Heating and Air Conditioning company. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking and watching Oklahoma Sooner Football. He is survived by his wife, Eunice McCollum, of Freemont, Ohio; five sisters, Dora Sawyer, of Bristow, Donna Raney, of Bristow, Glenda Haulcomb, of Bristow, Debra McCollum, of Bristow and Phyllis Cheatwood, of Okemah. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.V. McCollum, William Boyd Mc- Collum and Edward Ray McCollum as well as one sister, Marie Denham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Chapel with Charles Battenfield officiating. Interment will follow at the Bristow City Cemetery.
