Groceries years ago

An old man tells of his parents opening a grocery store in 1897 and as a child, they tell me I was the last one of the kids and the young man who worked for my father and who found me in one of the oldfashion bins which most stores had in those days for sugar, starch, etc. I was eating lump sugar.

When he was 12 years old, he drove their horse and wagon, with his mother on the front seat. His father having passed away when he was five years old, his mother continued to operate the store.
