Donations needed at local animal shelters

Each day animals are dumped or abandoned by their owners. It is a sad situation that is happening all over the county and state. Incidents of dogs being left tied to shelter fences, abandoned in rural areas, or dumped by passing vehicles occur frequently. Recently a dog was left in a crate with a small amount of food, just outside of Bristow. The dog was left in the pouring rain. You are asking yourself, “How can people do this?”There is no excuse, none at all, and animal cruelty is against the law.

What people don’t realize when they dump or abandon these animals, is that most shelters are full to capacity or they don’t have the resources to adequately care for these abandoned and abused animals, but they take these animals in anyway, because that is what they do. When people abandon or dump animals, they leave the responsibility with a rescue and if that rescue is full, it becomes a hardship but they can’t just leave the animal behind like the owner did, they take the animal in and do the best they can. That’s where the communities help comes into play. Make a monthly donation to your local rescue, even your local city animal shelter, just a simple donation of a bag of dog food or a crate for bedding, toys, treats, pads, blankets, anything that might help the rescue continue to aid in saving these animals lives. Sign up to be a volunteer going out weekly to visit with, walk or play with a rescue dog, help feed or clean their bedding; maybe become a foster for these dogs to help with the overcrowding. Small things like this help the rescue in so many ways and they can continue to provide shelter and love to these abandoned animals who so deserve to have a home and to be loved.
