The Freeland Center of Performing Arts was filled with laughter, imagination and curiosity as the first through fifth grade students got to experience the art of storytelling. Master storyteller, griot, and Renaissance man, Albert (Al) Bostick, presented a performance that was a delight and taught the kids how storytelling connects us all.
After the elementary sessions with Bostick, he led engaging workshops with high school speech and drama students. Captivating his audience, Bostick dove deeper into performance, communication and the art of keeping an audience captivated.
Bostick holds a bachelor's degree in theatre, acting and directing, with additional masters degreelevel course credits in theatre. He has directed and performed his storytellings nationwide. He is a Governors Arts Award winner for his work in education, as well as receiving a Citation of Excellence in the State.
“Not to know is bad...Not to wish to know is worse.” Bostick believes all children can learn once they remove the “I can't” from their vocabulary. It was quite a meaningful day at the Freeland Center.
