Donald Dee Dawson

December 9, 1940 - June 14, 2025

Donald Dee Dawson was born Dec.9, 1940, to Daniel and Ruth Dawson in Bristow. He departed this life June 14, 2025, at the age of 84.

He graduated from Depew High School in 1959.

On May 24, 1959, Don Dawson and Imogene Osburn were united in marriage. From this union three children were born, Debra, Dewayne, and Keely. He enjoyed fifty-eight years together before her passing May 18, 2017.

He served his country in the Army National Guard, the 179 th infantry regiment wearing the 45 th infantry badge. Don continued his education at Tulsa University where he graduated with his master’s in accounting. He worked for Texaco oil company for over 20 years retiring as a tax analyst.

Don had many interests including cars, motorcycles, and collecting guns. At the age of 50, he decided to start lifting weights and taking care of his body. At the age of 72, he won a bodybuilding competition.

He was a member of the Bristow Free Will Baptist church. Don and Imogene loved the Lord and were very involved in the Church any way they could help.

He is survived by three children, Debi Dawson, of Collinsville, Dewayne Dawson and wife Danielle, of Oklahoma City, and Keely Dawson of Bristow; one sister, Ruth Thomas, of McCloud; three grandchildren, Brittany Holt, of Owasso, Luke Pennington, of Tulsa, and Devon Dawson, of Oklahoma City; two great grandchildren, Emmett McKeel, and Ethan Doumite, of Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Maryanna Dawson and Mary Griffin, and one grandson, Jimmy Pennington.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
