Charles Noyes

Funeral services for Bristow resident, Charles Noyes, was held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024 at the Bristow First Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Sparks of Blackburn Chapel, Tecumseh, officiated.

Charles was born of humble beginnings on June 28, 1931 to the late Johnny Lyle and Anna (Allen) Noyes in a boxcar located in a cotton field near the town of Leedy, Oklahoma. He passed from this life at his home in Bristow on Dec. 11, 2024 at the age of 93 years, four months, and 13 days. With his parents being sharecroppers, Charles grew up on various farms in the region. At the age of 11, his parents bought a farm of their own, where they made their family home. Charles was educated in the Leedy school system and was a graduate of Leedy High School in 1950 where he was the Valedictorian of his graduating class. After high school Charles attended Oklahoma State University and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1955. After college Charles enlisted and served honorably

for 2 years in the United States Army. On September 10, 1956, Charles married the love of his life, Mary Louise Lasater, in Chandler. After completing his active duty military service, getting married and completing training with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, Charles and Mary moved to Watonga, Oklahoma where he worked in the USDA District Conservation Office of Blaine County for 14 years. While in Watonga, Charles and Mary were active members of the First Baptist Church, and their community while raising their two young children. In 1973, he was promoted to District Conservationist and transferred to the Creek County Conservation District Office in Bristow, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement he took on a variety of part-time jobs at places such as the Bristow Newspaper, and Mid-America Stockyard Feedstore. As a Christian, he was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and loved his church family. He spent many years spreading the Word of God as a Deacon, singing in the choir, and participating in many church programs, charitable labors, and fellowship.

He was very active in his community serving on the Bristow Library Board, a Rotary Club member, as well as organizing a yearly Ag-tour for the public to learn about various areas of the agriculture industry. Along with being an avid gardener and working with soil, Charles enjoyed watching and going to college basketball games, reading all genres of books, with westerns being his favorite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years; Mary Louise Noyes: sister Carolyn Noyes; daughter Kimberly Kaye Noyes.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son Kelly, of Bristow; brothers Jimmy Noyes and wife Marina, of Kiev, Ukraine; Ronald Noyes and wife Zona, of Hoschton, Georgia; Bobby Noyes, of Yukon, Oklahoma; plus numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
