Kenneth Steven Bookout was born on Nov. 24, 1953 in Tulsa to Kenneth and Maxine (Shelton) Bookout. He passed away on Aug. 18, 2024 in Cimmaron, New Mexico at the age of 70.
Steve graduated from Webster High School in 1972. He then started working at Dover in Tulsa. He married Jeanine Edwards on Sept. 4, 1981. In 1987, Steve began working at International Metals and worked there until he and Jeanine decided to open the Tank & Tummy Convenience Store in Bristow. In 1993, they decided to open a family restaurant in Bristow called Bookout’s Home Cookin & BBQ, operating it for 30 years until retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine, of the home; children, Steven Bo Bookout and wife, Terran; William Dewayne Bookout; Jody Ann Bookout; Rebecca Lynn Odell; Clint Alan Bookout and wife, Chelsey; Melinda Lou Vincent and husband, Joshua; grandchildren, Taylor Carter, Peyton Bridgeford, Reagan Bookout, Peyton Walker, Stephanie Hampton, Gus Kinyon, Kamryn Odell, Christian Odell, Kaylee Bookout, Kaden Bookout, and Journey Vincent; four great grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Bookout and brother, Stanley Gene Bookout and wife, Delia.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Bookout; grandparents, Jess and Rosie Bookout and H.O. and Mae Shelton.
Graveside funeral services were held on Monday,Aug. 26, 2024 at the Quinton City Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Stone officiated. Pallbearers were Bo Bookout, Clint Bookout, Christian Odell, Paul VanOrsdol, Jerry Voss and Dale Stice. Services were under the direction of Mallory ~ Martin Funeral Home & Crematory.
