December 12, 1930 - April 11, 2023
Jack Boyd Abraham I was born on Dec. 12, 1930, to Jack Abraham Sr. and Ruth Harbord Abraham.
He departed this life on April 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Jack Abraham III.
He is survived by his best friend, confidant and loving wife, Jittra, his older brother Joe Lee Abraham, his youngest son Robert Abraham, eight grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Jack thought of his life as having three trimesters. Before the army, during his time in the army, and after the army years. He was educated in public schools in Oklahoma and then attended Western Military Academy, as his father had, graduating in 1949.
His time in the U.S. Army began in 1952 and concluded in 1981. He began his army career as a private, with a high school education and retired as a Colonel, with a master’s degree. He picked up three languages along the way. His service took him to many parts of the world. He was an infantry soldier with his most rewarding and treasured assignments being those while in the U.S. Army Special Forces, (Green Beret) where, among other postings he served as the A Team Commander at two Special Forces camps in Vietnam. He earned several military accommodations including a Bronze Star with multiple clusters. One of his most valued possessions was a letter of accommodation from General Westmoreland. He treasured his ongoing friendship with Capt. Roger Donlon, the first person to receive the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War, as well as the first member of the Unites States Army Special Forces to be honored.
He began his post army years settling in Austin, Texas, where he owned and managed an advertising company. He continued with this until he moved to Georgetown, Texas where he reduced his business activities to enjoy a more leisurely lifestyle.
In his past times over the years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, tennis, playing cards of various kinds, with a preference of having a little money wagered, Tae Kwon Do, working out to stay in shape, watching his beloved Sooners play football, and traveling. And although he could never master the game, he liked golf. Jittra, his wife consistently beat him!
