Audie Joe Murphy was born Sept. 23, 1956 to Alice and Mancel Murphy in Tacoma, Washington. He departed this life Dec. 8, 2022, at the age of 66 years.
Jody, as known by all, was a Bristow resident nearly all his life. A 1976 graduate of Bristow High School who, by trade, was a truck driver and loved every second of it.
May 31, 1986, Jody Murphy and Robin Hilburn were united in marriage. Together Jody and Robin raised and supported their three children.
Jody was unwavering in the love he showed his family. If he wasn’t working, he was actively involved with the many activities of his children and later his grandchildren. If he was no where to be found it usually meant he was out fishing. He attended church at the First Church of God and was a football super fan.
Jody is survived by his wife of 36 years, Robin Murphy; mother, Alice Strein; three children, Aaron Murphy and Erin McCollough, of Bristow, Billy Murphy and Alyssa Goike, of Bristow, Krystal Sims and husband Wyatt, of Beggs, one brother, Billy Murphy, of Bristow; six grandchildren, Anthen, Famous, and Ayden Murphy; Amara and Kolson Sims and Ainsley Murphy and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mancel Murphy; sister, Ginger Murphy; father-inlaw; Roy Hilburn, brother-in-law, Steve Hilburn and stepfather, Carl Strein.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13,2022 at First Church of God in Bristow. Interment followed at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
