Last week, two local businesses welcomed Discover Oklahoma to town. Reporter Jason Grubbs and videographer Tommy Evans first stopped by Crossroads Diner for some hometown cooking before next visiting the Little Orange Barn.
Rolling into town last Wednesday, Sept. 29, the show dropped into Crossroads Diner. Jason happily exclaimed that the food did not disappoint, saying “It’s fantastic. I had catfish, and those pies are amazing. So good.” Tommy agreed, making note of the key lime pie, specifically. Jason noted the large serving sizes and could not utter more complimentary sentiments to describe the food and hospitality with which they were treated at the diner.
While the show chose Crossroads to showcase due to its location off of Route 66 and delicious homecooked meals, Little Orange Barn owners P.D. and Marla Woolery reached out to them earlier this year. They emailed the show about the local community and their business, which offers made in Oklahoma products almost exclusively. P.D. even sources local lumber for his handmade woodworking projects. Jason said, “We’re always looking for fantastic, locally-owned shops, restaurants, and anything to promote Oklahoma, so we added gladly them to our list.”
As Jason and Tommy interviewed and taped local patrons and business owners, a few locals seemingly relished the opportunity to brag about their hometown while a few others became nervous on camera. Still, everyone seemed pleased with the opportunity to highlight positivity and local businesses.
While at the Little Orange Barn, Jason and Tommy received a Discover Oklahoma charcuterie board made by P.D. and gift basket filled with goodies assembled by Marla. Although they could not be certain of the date the interviews will air, residents can keep watching and checking out the show’s website www.discoveroklahomatv.com for more information or to submit story ideas.
