Charles Eugene Keeling (Gene) was born Aug. 8, 1935, to John Harce and Reba Abbiegale Keeling in Depew. He departed this life Sept. 18, 2024, at his Kiefer home surrounded by his family.
On May 25, 1953, Charles Keeling and Betty Farmer were united in marriage in Chandler. From this union were born three children, Donna, Ron and Cecil. They enjoyed 71 years together before her passing June 18, 2024.
Gene and Betty made Kiefer their home in 1962, moving there from Berryhill. After several years working at Tube-Fab, Flint Steel and others, he formed his own business Gene’s Roustabout and Welding Service in 1972. Retiring from that business April 2015.
He was involved in many endeavors including, retired Fire Chief of the Kiefer Fire Department, former president of the Sapulpa CB club, former president of Green Country Tractor Pullers Association, member of the Civil Defense, member of Kiefer Auxiliary Police Dept, Kiefer Park Board.
He enjoyed going to tractor pulls, fishing, going to the sands of Little Sahara, and most importantly spending time with his family.
He is survived by three children, Donna Thomas and spouse Danny, of Kiefer; Ron Keeling and spouse Karen, of Sapulpa; Cecil Keeling and Jessica Teasley, of Kiefer; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Reba Keeling of Bristow, wife Betty of Kiefer and brothers Cecil Wayne Keeling and Douglas Ray Keeling.
