On Friday the City of Bristow received news that it had been awarded a $322,015.05 in the latest round of the Route 66 Revitalization Grant through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. Route 66 projects must support historic preservation or economic development within communities on Route 66.
After speaking with Mayor Wyatt, it was learned that the city had been applying for this grant for about three years. Mayor Wyatt said the funds will be used to fund amenities along Main Street, elevating the experiences of Main Street visitors.
Oklahoma has more miles of Route 66 than any other state. Tourist cruise the small towns, seeing beautiful hills and curves, gorgeous scenery and the great small town feel when visiting the towns along Rte. 66 . Many towns along with other organizations like the Bristow Historical Society with the Chrysler Tower Plaza or the large stained glass push pin that the Town of Wellston, on Rte. 66, had constructed, and visitors stopping in your community is a win, win The Oklahoma Route 66 Commission, comprised of nine commissioners, review and make the project selections. The grant money awarded to the project submitted must be used for that particular submission. We all look forward to things to come.
